Why consider the NCCT
Donor Phlebotomist Certification Exam?
  • To allow your Donor Phlebotomists to demonstrate their professional competence, just like all the other certified professionals in your facility
  • To have a nationally standardized measurement for the effectiveness of your donor phlebotomy training
  • As an outcome measure of staff competency for accreditation purposes
  • To assure first time donors that staff are recognized professionals and bring those donors back
  • As a method to insure staff knowledge about AABB standards and accepted practices
  • As an incentive for vertical mobility within your facility, with two levels of Donor Phlebotomist (DP1=newly trained; DP2=fully trained & certified)
  • Reimbursement for passing the exam can be tied to continued service for a period of time, decreasing staff turnover
  • Donor Phlebotomists who pass the examination and wish to remain active will have P.A.C.E. approved continuing education activities available to them annually, providing you with easy proof of continued competence
  • It can be administered in your own facility (meeting proctor guidelines)
